We worked with the Ayana Bio team to help them define their brand purpose, mission, vision, and core values. We developed their target audience and customer personas and launched a thorough competitive analysis. We then identified market gaps and opportunities in order to craft a strong brand positioning for Ayana Bio.

Storytelling
Our team of writers are storytellers by nature. We start with deep dive briefing with the client to understand the company and its connection to its customers, in order to tell their story to their audience in a unique and compelling way.

Out of our conversations with Ferment, we shaped their value proposition as a company creation studio using programmable biology to create endless opportunities to improve human welfare. We then used that value proposition to write their website copy and video script.

Our team worked to define and develop the visual branding for the company, including the logo, color palette, illustration direction, photography styling and font pairings.

We led the approach to the visual language with unique illustrations, finding inspiration from the earth itself. During the brand strategy workshops, we identified that we wanted to visualize how the natural world and scientific world intersect, and we created illustrations that visualized that 50/50 concept.

When designing and developing the Ayana Bio website, we paired the powerful visual language of the brand with the foundational elements of the brand strategy to create a website that clearly and concisely articulates the services Ayana Bio provides and their point of difference in the bioactives market. Throughout the entire website, we underlined Ayana’s connection to nature, their acknowledgement of all that the natural world has to offer us and their mission to preserve it through the use of biotechnology.

Once the website was complete, we designed a pitch deck, business cards and social media banners to help Ayana Bio communicate to their stakeholders and customers and stay memorable.

By nature, Ferment is a company that blends art and science to power the creation of new companies developing on its synthetic biology platform. Portraying the brand identity through the  beauty of nature and biology using petri dish art not only reflected that blend of art and science, but also created a connection to the parent company, Ginkgo Bioworks.
